3-Second gust speed from Wind Speed Map

Exposure:
        
A Large city centers with at least 50% of the building having a height in excess of 70 feet. (ASCE7-98 only)
B Urban and suburban areas, wooded area, or other terrain with numerous closely spaced obstructions having the size of single-family dwellings or larger.
C Flat open country, grasslands and shorelines in hurricane prone regions.
D Flat, unobstructed areas exposed to wind flowing over open water (excluding shorelines in hurricane prone regions)

Building categories listed below are based upon the ASCE Standard. Building categories for the International Building Codes are referenced in parentheses (IBC).

I

Buildings that represent a low hazard to human life in the event of failure. (IBC IV)
Ex: Agricultural facilities

II All buildings except those listed in categories I, III, IV. (IBC I)
Ex: Most commercial buildings
Most Residential Buildings
III Buildings that represent a substantial hazard to human life in the event of failure. (IBC II)
Ex: Buildings where more than 300 people congregate in one area.

IV  Buildings containing sufficient quantities of toxic, explosive or other hazardous substances to be dangerous to the public if released:  (IBC III)
Ex: Petrochemical Facilities

Buildings designated as essential facilities.
Ex: Hospitals
Fire, rescue and police stations 
Emergency shelters
Communication centers and related structures
Aviation control towers

Mean Roof Height:
The average of the roof eave height and the height to the highest point of the roof surface.
